The Cats started the game strong but three straight turnovers allowed the Golden Eagles to tie the game early at a 6-6 tie. No. 4 Maci Morris helped Kentucky tremendously with scoring, earning nearly a third of UK Hoops points in the first period. Kentucky held a significant lead by the end of the first quarter, with the score 22-13. While Tennessee Tech’s No. 2 Jordan Brock hit back-to-back threes halfway through the second quarter, it was no match for Kentucky’s 13-0 run, followed by a 10-0 run to end the half. By halftime, nine Wildcats had scored and Morris had not missed a single shot. The Cats were also holding a major lead in rebounds over Tennessee Tech, with 24 rebounds for Kentucky and only seven for the Golden Eagles. The score at the end of the half was 49-24. While Kentucky’s 25-point lead increased slightly in the third quarter, to a 29-point lead, it was their rebounding that really gave UK Hoops an advantage. By the end of the third period, they were outrebounding Tennessee Tech 35-16. The score at the end of the third quarter was 68-39. By the end of the game, Tennessee Tech had 23 rebounds, but the Cats had double that with 46. UK Hoops earned their seventh win of the season with a final score of 82-54. UK Hoops will be back in action inside Memorial Coliseum on Tuesday to play Evansville at 7 p.m. [mobile_ad]
