The University of Kentucky Rifle team is all set for the 2024-25 season as their schedule was announced this past week. Among exciting travels to other parts of the nation, the ‘Cats will host the NCAA Championships for the second time in program history.

“Excited to have our competition schedule released and obviously we are looking forward to host the NCAA Championships in March inside Memorial Coliseum,” head coach Harry Mullins told UK Athletics, who is entering his 37th season with the program. “The release of the schedule always means that we are close to getting the athletes back on campus and training is right around the corner.”

Kentucky has earned its right to host the NCAA Championships again, having won three of the last six national titles in 2018, 2021, and 2022. The last time the ‘Cats hosted the championships was in 2020, when Memorial Coliseum was prepped to host the nation before COVID-19 shutdowns began.

The 2024-25 schedule extends from October-March, where Kentucky will open competition by hosting Morehead State on Oct. 5. They’ll travel to Statesboro, GA the following weekend to compete against Georgia Southern on Oct. 12 before hosting a tri-match featuring Navy and North Georgia on Oct. 26.

The Wildcats compete against Ole Miss on Nov. 2 for their annual match, which will be hosted in Oxford, MI this year. After a week off, they’ll host a tri-match featuring Army and Murray State on Nov. 16 before heading west to Colorado Springs, CO to compete against Akron and Air Force on Nov. 23 and 24, concluding the fall portion of the schedule.

When students return to campus, they’ll open competition in 2025 hosting Georgia Southern on Jan. 12 before a long stretch on the road. They’ll compete at the Withrow Invitational in Murray, KY to compete against Murray State and Memphis on Jan. 19 and 20. They’ll then travel to compete against North Georgia on Jan. 26 before leaving the continental U.S. to compete against UAF in Fairbanks, AK on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. They return to Lexington on Feb. 8 to host West Virginia, concluding regular season competition.

The postseason will begin on Feb. 22, when Kentucky hosts the NCAA Qualifiers at the UK Rifle Range inside Baker Hall before traveling to Morgantown, WV for the Great America Rifle Championships on Mar. 1 and 2.

With the NCAA Championships back in Lexington, the ‘Cats will host the nation in Memorial Coliseum for the two-day event on March 14 and 15, competing to claim air-rifle and smallbore titles.

“This is a challenging schedule with a lot of quality teams both home and away. Like always, Coach (Cathryn) Papasodora and I will focus on getting the athletes better each and every day with the goal that we are competing at our best at the end of the year. We are looking forward to having some new faces in this group and get going here soon,” Mullins said.
