Besides the Kentucky baseball team's march to a possible SEC championship, the other UK sports story of the weekend is senior tennis star Eric Quigley's run in the NCAA tournament. He started the day by winning a Sweet 16 singles match with Mississippi State's Artem Ilyushin to get to the regional final in singles play. The third-ranked Quigley took home a straight set win to set up a match against 5th-ranked Henrique Cunha of Duke tomorrow at noon. If he wins that, he would be the first UK tennis player to get to the semifinals since 2002. Quigley then capped off the day by teaming with Panav Jha to make the doubles regional final, needing only two sets to knock off Andrew Dome and Matt Fawcett of Cal Poly. The win marks the second time Quigley has made the national quarterfinals in doubles, as he got there in 2010 as well. The two will play the #1 seeded duo of Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola from Ohio State at 4 p.m. tomorrow, as Quigley spends the weekend trying to add a few highlights to the reel for the 2012 UK athletic year before it ends in the next couple of weeks.
