University of Kentucky track star defeats defending Olympic champion in 110M Hurdles

[caption id="attachment_261013" align="alignnone" width="700"] UK Athletics[/caption] While former University of Kentucky track phenom Sydney McLaughlin is now in the professional ranks, another Wildcat has taken her place as the superstar track athlete on campus. Daniel Roberts, a junior out of Hampton, GA, took down 2016 Olympic champion Omar McLeod this afternoon at the Drake Relays in the 110-meter hurdles. With a time of 13.28 seconds, one one-hundredth of a second faster than McLeod, Roberts became the first college athlete to win since the event was added in 202. But Roberts wasn't the only Wildcat to dominate at the Drake Relays. Former UK track star Keni Harrison finished with her fourth consecutive victory in the women's 100-meter hurdles, joining just legendary T&F athlete Lolo Jones as the only women to accomplish that feat in event history. Current Kentucky track athlete Faith Ross also won the women's collegiate 100-meter hurdles in 13.30 seconds, while Tai Brown and Caleb Wilt represented the UK men's squad, finishing first and second, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles collegiate finals.
