U.S. Women's National Soccer Team to play Argentina in Louisville this fall

The United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) is currently going for gold in the Paris Olympics, taking on Germany in the semifinals on Tuesday. This fall, they’re coming to the Bluegrass.

This morning, it was announced that the USWNT will play Argentina on Wednesday, October 30 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, the home of Louisville City in the USL Championship and Racing Louisville in the National Women’s Soccer League. It’s the first time in 20 years that the USWNT is playing a match in Kentucky. From 1999 to 2004, the team played four matches at Louisville’s Cardinal Stadium, now known as L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium.

“We’re truly honored to host the U.S. women’s national team,” James O’Connor, the president of Louisville City and Racing Louisville, said in a press release. “This is yet another testament to the strong support for professional soccer in Louisville as well as continued investment by our ownership group to build strong teams and top facilities.”

As O’Connor said, this is another big step for soccer in Louisville. Lynn Family Stadium was recently named a potential team base camp for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, which is being hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Lou City also hosted Eintracht Frankfurt for a friendly and Racing Louisville will host The Women’s Cup international tournament starting on Friday.

This will be the fifth match between the U.S. and Argentina, and the first since February 2021, when USWNT won 6-0 in Orlando, Florida in the SheBelieves Cup. Before coming to Louisville, the USWNT will play Iceland in Austin, Texas on October 24 and again in Nashville on October 27. The match vs. Argentina kicks off at 7 p.m. ET and will be shown live on TNT, Universo, TruTV, Max, and Peacock. Ticket presales begin tomorrow and open up to the public Friday morning at 10 a.m.
