This new era of Kentucky women’s basketball has the BBN excited, ready to watch the program shift to a culture that will ultimately make winning a habit in Lexington. Under Kenny Brooks, the ‘Cats are primed to have their best season in several years.

But, just how good will Kentucky be this season?

Technology is improving every day (and probably at an alarming rate, to be honest), and now, we’ve gotten to the point where AI (Artificial Intelligence) can use data to formulate an educated prediction of what Kentucky’s record will be this season. ChatGPT and Grok, Twitter/X’s AI, will be the softwares used in this exercise.

ChatGPT

Record Prediction: 20-25 wins

ChatGPT seemed to be the more optimistic software of the two, citing Kentucky’s historical success as the main reason for what they could do in 2024-25. You’ll come to learn that these AI’s are still a work in progress, so they only have so much they can really go off of.

Still, 20-25 wins seems like a fair assessment, and that’s probably in the ballpark of what fans should expect from the team, at least just in the regular season.

Grok

Record Prediction: 18-20 wins

Grok’s explanation was much more detailed than ChatGPT’s, and it was also a bit more down on the team’s potential than ChatGPT was.

In the scenarios shown below, according to Grok, the ‘Cats have an approximate ceiling of 22-8, while they have a floor of 12 wins — the same amount of wins that Kyra Elzy coached Kentucky to in the last two seasons.

Clearly, the expectations for Kentucky are much higher than they have been as of late (even if Grok thinks there’s a 12-win floor for this team). A 20-win season seems to be right there for the taking, and it would be the first since the 2019-20 season, Matthew Mitchell’s last at the helm.

The power of AI has predicted that Brooks can lead this team to a successful season, and there’s no reason why that shouldn’t be the case. Just don’t use ChatGPT to do your scouting reports, Kenny.
