Utah Valley transfer Fardaws Aimaq reportedly focusing on Kentucky, 8 others

Fardaws Aimaq is one of the hottest names in the transfer portal right now and Kentucky continues to make his shortlist.
On Wednesday morning, Jeff Borzello of ESPN reported that Aimaq, who was a two-time First-Team All-WAC selection and two-time WAC Defensive Player of the Year at Utah Valley, has “been focused” on nine schools: Kentucky, Gonzaga, Texas Tech, Washington, Houston, Arkansas, Iowa, Arizona, and Texas. The Wildcats were among the first programs to reach out to Aimaq when he initially put his name in the portal back on March 18.

Aimaq, a 6-foot-11, 245-pound center out of Vancouver, BC, averaged 18.9 points, 13.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest this past season for Utah Valley. He finished the year ranked second in the nation in double-doubles with 27, coming in behind the unanimous National Player of the Year, Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe.
Part of the final decision for Aimaq could hinge on whether or not Tshiebwe comes back to UK or enters the NBA Draft, as both occupy the same area of the floor. Aimaq is also going to test the NBA Draft waters, but if he were to return to college, he’d still have two years of eligibility left.
