The Vanderbilt Commodores will be shorthanded this weekend vs. Kentucky. Yesterday, head coach Clark Lea announced that starting right tackle Junior Uzebu is out on Saturday after missing the last three games with a lower-body injury. Reserve safety Savion Riley will also miss his second straight game with an upper-body injury.

Riley isn’t the only member of the secondary that could miss Saturday’s game. Cornerback BJ Anderson, safety De’Rickey Wright, and safety Jalen Mahoney are all questionable. Anderson missed last week’s game vs. UNLV with an illness and is now dealing with a soft-tissue injury. Wright hasn’t practiced all week due to an ankle injury but Lea said if he feels well enough to play on Saturday, he likely will. Wright has picked off two passes this season and forced and recovered a fumble. Mahoney, a fifth-year team captain with a pair of pass breakups this season, is also listed as questionable with a hip injury but practiced on Thursday.

Starting quarterback AJ Swann, who has thrown for over 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns in four games this season, has been dealing with an elbow contusion this week but Lea said he should be good to go on Saturday. Right tackle Grayson Morgan (back) will be available after being listed as questionable earlier this week.

On Kentucky’s side, Mark Stoops did not tip his hand on whether offensive lineman Kenneth Horsey or tight end Josh Kattus will be available on Saturday.

“We’re in decent shape for four games in,” Stoops said last night. “So, we’re in decent shape. Not at 100 percent but we’re in decent shape.”

Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt tickets still available

If you’re still thinking of making the drive down to Nashville, tickets are still available. There are still several rows open on the visitor’s side of the stadium (sections Q through V). Capacity at FirstBank Stadium is reduced from 39,790 to 28,500 this season as the venue undergoes major renovations.

Due to the construction, there are some road closures and parking changes to be aware of. A complete list and map of affected areas are available on Vanderbilt’s website (This interactive map is particularly useful.) If you have a parking pass or want to park in one of the garages around the stadium, lots will open at 7 a.m. CT. Make sure to give yourself extra time to navigate the area and get to your seat. You might want to bring a hard hat.
