Vanderbilt is college football’s darling after beating No. 1 Alabama, an upset for the ages. As Kentucky fans who are also hoping to avoid a hangover from our own top-ten upset, we’re just fine letting the victory go to the ‘Dores’ head. So, as we start this Beat Vanderbilt week, let’s gather around and watch the latest edition of SEC Shorts, which is devoted almost entirely to Vandy’s big Saturday.

The Dores already got some love from the sketch comedy series for their win over NC State to start the season. The funk music and cane walk are back as Vandy rises from the grave to take a well-deserved victory lap. Turn on the closed captioning to read how the SEC Shorts team had an entirely different video in mind for this week but had to call an audible Saturday night after Vanderbilt’s win.

“Smile of the entire divided world of college football all coming together to celebrate this one incredible event,” the captions read. “Sounds of funky pimp walkin’ music that means we received your 200,000 messages and DMs about what you wanted to see.”

After being named to the FBS Basement Hall of Fame by their fellow cellar dwellers, the Dores walk the goalpost down the road, a nod to its real-life 3-mile trek down Broadway to the Cumberland River on Saturday night. They pass Arkansas, which also upset No. 4 Tennessee, another fun moment from a wild weekend.

Well done, Vanderbilt. What a victory for the little man. Feel free to keep reveling in it as long as you like. Even into the weekend.
