Villanova a school to watch for Kentucky decommit Acaden Lewis

Acaden Lewis is going to have plenty of suitors following his surprising decommitment from Kentucky men’s basketball earlier this week.
Multiple reports indicate the Villanova Wildcats, led by new head coach Kevin Willard, will be one of those schools involved. Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog recently reported Lewis had a Zoom meeting with Villanova on Friday. Travis Branham of 247Sports also reports Villanova, among a few other high-majors, will be one of the programs interested in recruiting the four-star point guard.
Lewis is considered the 32nd-best class of 2025 high school recruit in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The DMV native announced the decision to reopen his recruitment on Friday.

Lewis’ immediate connection to Villanova makes sense. A product of Sidwell Friends in Washington D.C., Lewis is familiar with Willard from the latter’s time coaching at nearby Maryland from 2022-25. Willard and the Terrapins offered him in Sept. 2023. The likes of Duke, North Carolina, and UConn were also heavily involved in Lewis’ recruitment the first time around before Kentucky received his commitment back in November.
Will Kentucky head coach Mark Pope go after a replacement point guard option for Lewis? The Wildcats are hosting 6-foot-5 Sam Houston transfer guard Lamar Wilkerson on Sunday, but he’s more of a shooter than a pure floor general. If UK can land Wilkerson, the 2025-26 backcourt might be set with Jaland Lowe (Jr.), Jasper Johnson (Fr.), and Travis Perry (So.) sharing minutes as the lead guard.
