Vince Marrow Dunks on Scott Satterfield after UofL Coach Cries Tampering at Saban

This offseason notorious whiner Scott Satterfield has been doing what Scott Satterfield does best, whine. The Louisville head coach has been whining since his first game against an SEC opponent. After Mark Stoops brushed off the L’s Down complaints, Nick Saban did exactly the same thing when Satterfield directed his ire toward Alabama. Now Vince Marrow is piling on the school down the road.
Louisville lost its two top receivers to the transfer portal this offseason. Jordan Watkins was the first to go, departing for Ole Miss, but the folks on Floyd Street were much angrier when Tyler Harrell left the program. Even before the speedy slot receiver entered the portal, Louisville fans cried “tampering!” Shortly after Harrell announced his commitment to Alabama, Satterfield took a not so subtle jab at Saban for orchestrating the move.
247 Sports asked Satterfield about the tampering allegations. The Louisville head coach chuckled, then said this:
“I think it’s not only him, it’s happened before here,” Satterfield said. “Last year we had a few guys that jumped into the portal and the next day they’re announcing where they’re going. You can look at that and know that something went on before they were in the portal.”
Saban Responds to Satterfield
Almost a month has passed since Harrell officially made the move to Alabama. Yesterday at a golf event Saban denied any tampering allegations.

“We don’t tamper with anybody. I don’t know of anybody that tampered with him,” Saban said of Harrell. “You know, I don’t really know that anybody’s ever tampered with our players. I just think sometimes when things happen it makes you wonder. So I’m not making any accusations against anybody that’s done anything to our players and I don’t have any knowledge of anybody that’s done anything with anybody else’s players.”
Harrell was one of a few high profile transfers the Crimson Tide landed this offseason. Georgia WR Jermaine Burton, LSU CB Eli Ricks and Vanderbilt OT Tyler Steen all made the move to Alabama, but neither of their former coaches cried tampering, only Louisville’s.
Marrow Weighs in on Tampering
Vince Marrow never turns down an opportunity to throw a jab at the University of Louisville. He was quick to remind folks that “if the product is good, players wouldn’t leave.”
It’s easy to accuse another school of cheating when things don’t go your way. It’s more difficult to accept the harsh reality that your best wide receiver would rather play somewhere else. After all, if you were a a wide receiver with NFL aspirations, would you rather catch passes for Malik Cunningham at Louisville, or from the reigning Heisman Trophy winner at Alabama? It’s a no-brainer.
