Virginia Tech 4-star commit Lexi Blue flips to Kentucky
With a name like Alexandra “Lexi” Blue, she might as well have been born to play basketball for the University of Kentucky.
On Friday afternoon, Blue announced through Instagram her commitment to Kentucky women’s basketball and head coach Kenny Brooks. The 6-foot-2 wing is considered a four-star recruit from the class of 2024 and is ranked No. 38 overall by ESPN. Blue initially committed to Virginia Tech back in July when Brooks was still the head coach of the Hokies, but she will instead follow Brooks to Lexington for the 2024-25 season.
Blue, who was recruited by the previous UK staff, is the first high school commit for Coach Brooks since he was officially introduced as Kentucky WBB head coach on March 28. She currently attends Lake Highland Prep in Florida.
Coach Brooks is currently overhauling the Kentucky roster. Along with Blue, he’s also brought in a pair of his former Virginia Tech players through the transfer portal, All-American point guard Georgia Amoore and 6-foot-5 center Clara Strack. Additionally, 6-3 Australian forward Amelia Hassett also announced her transfer from junior college to Kentucky.

Those three all announced their pledges to the Wildcats on Thursday. A day later, we can add Blue to the mix. Don’t be surprised if another one of Virginia Tech’s current 2024 commits, 6-foot-7 Portugal native Clara Silva, joins Blue in the very near future, either.
Earlier on Friday, Kentucky junior point guard Brooklynn Miles announced that she has entered her name into the transfer portal. That puts Kentucky at eight players currently in the portal with just three pieces (Saniah Tyler, Cassidy Rowe, and Amiya Jenkins) remaining from last season’s roster.
But with four new players added in less than 24 hours and more certainly on the way, Brooks has the Wildcats’ rebuild in a terrific spot early in the offseason.
