Virginia Tech WBB All-American guard Georgia Amoore transfers to Kentucky
Kenny Brooks has made his first major splash at Kentucky.
On Thursday night, All-American guard Georgia Amoore announced on Instagram that she will be transferring to Kentucky, following head coach Kenny Brooks to Lexington. Amoore played the last four seasons under Brooks at Virginia Tech and will join the Wildcats as a graduate transfer for the 2024-25 season.
Amoore will have one year of eligibility left.
Amoore had multiple options and possible routes she could go, but ultimately announced that she would not be returning to Virginia Tech. Then, as the deadline passed to declare for the WNBA Draft, reports came out that she would go portaling with a “do not contact” tag.
From there, it was all Kentucky.
At Virginia Tech last season, Amoore had a career-best year. She averaged 18.8 points per game and her 6.8 assists per game ranked fourth in the nation. Despite being just 5-foot-6, Amoore has found ways to be a huge factor offensively.
Her 218 assists this season were tops in the ACC, and she is sixth all-time in the ACC in total assists recorded with 656. Additionally, Amoore has made 330 three-pointers in her career which is fourth all-time in the ACC.
