Vito Tisdale has returned to his old Kentucky home. The former Wildcat entered the transfer portal this offseason and is now preparing for the 2024 season in Richmond at Eastern Kentucky University. He’s listed on the Colonels’ official roster as a redshirt junior, giving him two more years of collegiate eligibility.

Tisdale spent the 2023 season in Boulder. He transferred to Colorado to play for Coach Prime but was limited by injuries, seeing only three defensive snaps in three games.

Injuries have plagued Tisdale throughout his college career. Once upon a time, he hit someone so hard on a blitz that he was sent to the sideline with a shoulder injury. Things were much more serious in the spring of 2022 when he tore his ACL and was forced to miss the entire season.

A four-star prospect for the Bowling Green Purples back in 2020, he committed to Kentucky at the All-American Bowl alongside his famous father, “Big V” from the hip-hop group Nappy Roots.

Tisdale quickly became an endearing member of the BBN for his explosive play on the field and his charisma on the sideline. Few folks loved to use the hit stick or throw Ls Down quite like Vito. In two seasons he had 41 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, and a PBU. He was preparing for a breakout campaign when he suffered the season-ending injury in 2022. His “charisma” caught up with him before he could return to the field and Tisdale was dismissed from the team in the spring of 2023 for a violation of team rules.

Things have not always gone smoothly for the Kentucky kid. Hopefully, he can follow in the footsteps of Dyshawn Mobley and other former Cats who found success playing for the FCS program in Richmond. EKU opens the season against Mississippi State in Starkville, the same place where Tisdale recorded his first career sack back in 2021.
