Wan'Dale Robinson will be 'generator' for rebuilding Giants
Wan’Dale Robinson is heading to the NFC to suit up for the New York Giants. With a new regime in place, this storied franchise is beginning a rebuild. The Giants hope that Robinson will become an influential piece in this franchise’s new young core.
After addressing pass rush (Kayvon Thibodeaux) and offensive tackle (Evan Neal) with a pair of top-10 picks, the Giants settled on Robinson for their first selection in round two. Shortly before the draft, the Giants made it known that the receiver was high on their board.
“A week before the draft I had a meeting with the assistant GM and the GM,” Wan’Dale Robinson said after being selected by the Giants. “At that point, that’s when I knew that they were really interested in me. Just really wanted to get everything in my background and just how I grew up and everything like that. Really just driving into the person that I am and obviously, they saw everything on film.”
For general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, the skillset stood out on Robinson. The Kentucky product can create plays right away for a rebuilding offense.
“He’s a generator when the ball is in his hands,” said Schoen. “He’s got run after catch. He can separate from DBs. He gets open.”

With both Schoen and Daboll moving to New York from the Bills organization, there have been some comps to Isaiah McKenzie. The Georgia product is a slot receiver who has also been used as a rusher on gadget plays and as a returner in the kicking game. Robinson could have a similar role, but the Kentucky product is focused on himself and helping this franchise win.
“At the end of the day, I want to be my own guy,” said Wan’Dale Robinson. “I don’t want to be anyone else. I like to take bits and pieces of people’s games and apply to mine but I just want to come in and be myself and help us win.”
“Gotta get to work. Getting drafted is only the start of it. The job’s not finished or you haven’t made it yet so it’s just time to come in and prove it. Come in each and every day and just prove why we’re here to help the team win.”
