Wan’Dale Robinson is officially a New York Giant. The former Kentucky Wildcat was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the No. 43 overall pick.

Following Lynn Bowden, Robinson is just the second Kentucky wide receiver taken in the NFL Draft since Randall Cobb was selected by the Green Bay Packers with the last pick in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Robinson is the latest of a few notable Wildcats to play for the G-Men. George Asafo-Adjei (2019) and Andre Woodson (2008) were late round selections, not long after Jared Lorenzen won the Super Bowl with New York.

A high school phenom in Frankfort, Robinson earned Kentucky Mr. Football honors in 2018 after gaining 8,582 yards from scrimmage and scoring 118 offensive touchdowns throughout his illustrious career at Western Hills High School. Robinson initially committed to play for Kentucky, but backed out at the eleventh hour to attend Nebraska.

During two seasons with the Huskers he wore many different hats, splitting time at running back and wide receiver. Robinson’s efforts were recognized as a two-time Hornung Award finalist, but most experts considered him “undraftable” at the time. He decided to enter the transfer portal and found the perfect place to cultivate his skills closer to home in Liam Coen’s pro-style offense.

Robinson was more than remarkable in his only season in Lexington. He set two new single-season Kentucky receiving records by catching 104 passes for 1,334 yards, while finding the end zone seven times. Robinson saved his best for last. Appearing in his first bowl game, Robinson caught 10 passes for 170 yards to earn VRBO Citrus Bowl MVP honors. He accounted for 79 of UK’s 80 yards on the final possession that led to a game-winning Chris Rodriguez touchdown, including an improbable 52-yard reception down the UK sideline.
