Wan'Dale Robinson will transfer to Kentucky

Wan’Dale Robinson will (finally) be a Kentucky Wildcat.

Shortly after entering the transfer portal the Frankfort native announced he will be taking his talents to his Old Kentucky Home.

Just over two years ago Robinson was committed to play for Mark Stoops at Kentucky. The Mr. Football from Western Hills High School had a change of heart two weeks before signing day, opting instead to play for Scott Frost at Nebraska. He made a slight detour, but Wan’Dale finally found his way to UK thanks to some help from Stoops and Vince Marrow.

Robinson immediately fit the billing of an All-American, setting Nebraska records for receptions and receiving yards by a freshman in 2019. He followed that up by leading the Huskers in receiving in 2020. In  20 college football games Robinson picked up just shy of 2,000 yards from scrimmage and was a two-time finalist for the Paul Hornung Award, given each year to the nation’s most versatile college football player.

A high school star, in his final season of football he scored 45 touchdowns in 11 games. Whether he was at running back, wide receiver, returner or playing defense, Robinson could turn any play into a touchdown. Now the BBN will get to watch him make plays at Kroger Field while potentially catching passes from a former district foe, former Lexington Catholic quarterback Beau Allen.

Robinson gives Kentucky’s offense an immediate jolt of explosiveness after multiple seasons of struggles through the air. A slot receiver that can make people miss, Liam Coen’s offense will target Robinson early and often. One cannot quantify how much adding the big-play maker to the offense will help the new play-caller and new quarterback in 2021.

We’ll have much more on what Robinson’s return to Kentucky means for the Wildcats until the ball is kicked off this fall. Before the hype train gets completely off the tracks, enjoy some of Robinson’s best work on the football field.
