Washington Huskies officially announce the addition of Quade Green

by:Jack Pilgrim01/10/19

Back on December 20, news leaked out that former Kentucky point guard Quade Green would be transferring to Washington.

Now, the Washington Huskies have officially announced Green’s addition to the program, effective immediately.

Washington head coach Mike Hopkins was excited to officially bring the former Wildcat on board.

“We could not be more excited to welcome to the Husky Family such a humble leader that fits our culture perfectly,” said Hopkins in a press release. “Quade has proven he can win his entire life and the skill set, attitude and work ethic he brings is going to continue to help us take this program in the direction we want to go. He’s got a great amount of experience and talent, I’ve known him for a long time and we’re just very excited he is here to help us continue to build.”

His freshman season with the Wildcats, Green averaged 9.3 points (45.1 percent shooting) and 2.7 assists in 34 games. In eight games this season, Green averaged eight points and 2.3 assists per contest.

Because he transferred before the start of the spring semester and enrolled in classes on time at Washington, Green will be eligible to return to game action at the start of the winter quarter next season. He will, however, be able to practice with the team until then.

The news was technically announced this past Friday, but for whatever reason, local media folks here in Kentucky just stumbled upon it this evening.

Regardless, best of luck to Quade in his big move out west!
