WATCH: Kenny Brooks, Dazia Lawrence recap Kentucky WBB's 91-69 win over Mississippi State
Kentucky’s win over Mississippi State was fun. A lot of fun. Kenny Brooks couldn’t help but acknowledge that in his postgame press conference, but as he was doing it, he gave credit to the players for how they played.
“Really good win for our kids,” Brooks said in his opening statement. “There’s a lot of fun watching them. Right from the start, the preparation was really good — communication. [They were] locked in on the scout, did a really good job, and we came out and we did what we are capable of doing. You know, we hadn’t shot the ball extremely well early on in the year, and anytime we can step up and knock down shots, if we can make half of those shots, we’re going to be a really good team and hard to aim.”
There was also history made inside of Historic Memorial Coliseum along the way. Georgia Amoore and Dazia Lawrence became the first pair of teammates in UK history to make seven threes in a game, and that helped catapult Kentucky to a program record 18 made threes on the night.

“I think it was a school record for most threes in a game, and to be able to do that tonight, especially really good competition — Sam [Purcell] has done a tremendous job with that program,” Brooks noted. “Not easy when you’re following a legend, Vic [Schaefer], but he’s done a really good job with that program. They’re extremely talented. They gave us problems throughout the night, and I think they were 13-1, I think they were like 26 or so in the NET. So, it’s really good win for us, but I was very proud of everyone. It must have been old head’s night in the club because my two 23 year olds were shooting the lights out. But really, really proud of them.”
