WATCH: Kenny Brooks, Teonni Key preview Texas A&M + a Jordan Obi injury update
In a mid-week press conference, Kenny Brooks and Teonni Key talked about the team’s most recent game at Georgia and the season up until this point before quickly previewing Thursday’s matchup at Texas A&M.
“The record is good, 16-1 and 5-0 in the conference, but we’re taking it day-by-day. It’s been a good start for us so far,” Brooks said in his opening statement. He also made sure to note that while the team is off to a good start, the best it yet to come. He attributes the fast start in large part to the team’s chemistry.
“The chemistry that they’ve developed, a lot of it has to do with your leadership,” Brooks said. “Georgia [Amoore] does a tremendous job of pretty much translating what I’m saying, what I want from the floor, and I’m assuming she takes it to the locker room, and there’s just an understanding of what’s needed and what’s expected of this group. But like I mentioned before, we have great kids, and they’re all willing to be led, and then also to lead in their own way.”
He also made sure to provide an injury update on Jordan Obi, who resumed basketball activities following a re-evaluation she got earlier in the month.

“She’s moving now,” Brooks explained. She’s out there, and she looks really good. She looks really good — it’s a tease. But obviously, we’re excited for her progression because it was devastating for her when she got injured. You could see it all over her face. She came here to play for Kentucky, but she’s been exceptional.”
He continued, “We’ve kept her involved, so that she’s watching every practice. She’s involved in film sessions where I’m asking her questions from an outside perspective. ‘What did you see,’ and then we probably, the last week or so, we got to see her move around a little bit. As far as her future, we’re going to take it slow. We’re not going to do anything to rush that situation, and we’re going to do what’s best for her, even though it’s very tempting.”
