Prior to kickoff at the Governor’s Cup, Kentucky Football honored its 28 seniors on Senior Day in Kroger Field. Among them, former linebacker Chris Oats was recognized with his classmates from the 2018 recruiting class.

A four-star prospect out of high school, Oats was a standout freshman and sophomore early in his college career but suffered a stroke the summer before his junior season that left him wheelchair-bound and learning to walk again. On Senior Day, Oats stood from his chair with his teammates as the departing Wildcats were recognized in front of Big Blue Nation.

It was a powerful moment on an already special afternoon in Kroger Field.

Oats Strong

Oats closed the book on his college career on Senior Day, but it’s still a long road to recovery as he continues to rehabilitate. The costs of his rehabilitation are a heavy burden on Oats’ family, so consider 22OatsStrong.org for ways you can help out and to learn more about Chris’ story.
