What does a Saturday night look like for the newly-married Collin Chandler entering his sophomore campaign at Kentucky? Catching lobs from his wife at the Joe Craft Center, obviously.

The two got married back in May, but don’t think his honey-do list is taking away from his time on the court ahead of what is expected to be a breakout season — or that he’s not getting help from his wife, Hannah. The Chandlers had the gym to themselves and made the most of their time together on the floor, Collin posting a highlight tape on Instagram of Hannah throwing him alley-oops and serving as a prop to jump over as he prepares for his next Big Blue Madness slam dunk contest victory.

Collin started out with some light throwdowns before ramping up to double-pumps, reverses, tomahawks and windmills. He’s looking plenty bouncy — and giddy for the start of the 2025-26 season as a Wildcat.

Whenever Hollywood is ready for a Love and Basketball remake, Mr. and Mrs. Chandler are at the top of the casting list. That may have to come after Collin’s NBA career is over, though, because it sounds like he’s on the cusp of a phenomenal sophomore year at Kentucky.

He’s already made a big-time leap, and he still has two months until the games begin for the Wildcats.

“He’s made an incredible jump,” Pope said of Chandler in mid-August. “You know, one of the things that he was focused on this summer was his ball handling, his ability to get wherever he wanted to get and not have handling the ball slow him down from getting there. And he worked incredibly hard at it this entire summer. He’s made massive progress, like, it’s really stunning.

“I think he’s finishing the ball better. He’s another guy that grew immensely defensively during the season last year, and he’s carried that over. He’s got a chance to be an elite-level defender.”

Maybe the most impressive part of his growth? He has a competitive edge unlike anyone else on the team. That certainly bodes well for his push to join the starting lineup alongside the likes of Jaland Lowe and Otega Oweh.

“He’s playing so hard for us right now,” Pope continued. “I feel like he can’t breathe if there’s not something on the line, like he is the most competitive. He just can’t wait to get to the next competition. It doesn’t matter what it is, by the way, it could be anything. If we’re guessing if we’re going to see a blue car or a red car when we turn the corner, he wants to be in that. He’s going to have a huge impact on the team this year.”

The Chandlers have a lifetime of Saturday movie nights coming once he gets to the next level. Until then, the focus is on the chase for banner No. 9 — and he’s got his wife by his side.
