WATCH: Cutter Boley Confident in Kentucky's Plan at South Carolina

The sounds of roosters crowing and Sandstorm engulfed the Joe Craft Football Training Facility as Kentucky prepares for its first road trip of the season. It will be the first start Cutter Boley has logged against an SEC opponent, and he’s excited for the challenge.
“We’re really working on that communication piece with the O-line, the wideouts, and the running back, making sure that everything gets communicated and everybody is where they need to be,” the redshirt freshman quarterback said after practice.
Even though it’s Boley’s first SEC road start, he played for the entire second half as a true freshman last fall at Texas, completing 10-18 passes for 160 yards. He got a start under his belt against Eastern Michigan, throwing for two touchdown passes, and had a bye week to get a head start on preparation for South Carolina.
“We’re focused on one play at a time, trying to make him as prepared as can be,” said offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan. “Certainly, the bye week has helped, from knowing the plan standpoint. He’s going to have to go in there and play like he plays. He’s played a lot of football and is going to go in there confidently.”
Confidence has never been an issue for the Kentucky quarterback. Regardless of the circumstance, Cutter is going to be Cutter. When his number is called, he’s going to let it rip.

Some players are superstitious. Preparation is obviously a key to success, but some take it five steps further with gameday routines. That’s not how Cutter Boley rolls.
“I don’t really believe in that,” said Boley. “There’s been things I’ve done in the past the same every single time, but it’s not going to be able to be the same every single time. I don’t really believe in that. I’m not going to let that be on my mind. ‘I didn’t get to do this, so…’ I don’t even want to think about it. I’m just going to wake up, go through the schedule, and I’m going to be really confident in the plan. Maybe go through the call-sheet and stuff like that, but that’s it.”
Will that mentality pay dividends in a hostile environment? We’ll find out Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium when Kentucky kicks off against South Carolina at 7:45 ET on the SEC Network.
