Mark Stoops earned a reputation with defensive backs while coaching Ed Reed and Sean Taylor at The U. He always keeps a close on eye on the secondary during practice, but Frank Buffano and Chris Collins are doing the heavy lifting. Coach Buff primarily focuses on safeties, while Collins is coaching up the cornerbacks. He has a tall task at hand this offseason: Find two new starters.
Chris Collins, who signed a two-year contract extension this offseason, brings the juice with him every time he steps onto the football field. This spring he has an opportunity to really leave his mark on an impressionable, young group of cornerbacks.
