WATCH: DJ Wagner, Reed Sheppard, Adou Thiero preview Kentucky's Canada trip
Kentucky Basketball opened its doors to the media today for interviews with three of the Wildcats before next week’s trip to Toronto. The three players made available for questions were two of the new freshmen, DJ Wagner and Reed Sheppard, and one of the only sophomore vets, Adou Thiero.
The newcomers spoke of their early experiences on campus and getting accustomed to life as collegiate athletes, while Thiero discussed his growth both physically and mentally from his freshman season to his role today as one of the lone experienced returners.
“I didn’t really realize, like, how strong I was getting,” Thiero said of his transformation. “And so, people started pointing it out and so I realized, geez, I am getting a lot stronger. I think it’s just really helped my game a lot.”
Thiero hopes to stay where he is physically and “maintain” his current frame throughout the upcoming season.

Wagner and Sheppard still have weight to add, but they’re enjoying the early process under John Calipari at Kentucky. However, Wagner now sees a different Calipari than the one he grew up around as the son of Dajuan Wagner, a former Calipari guard at Memphis.
“Knowing Coach Cal outside of coaching, and knowing him as Coach Cal, is different,” said DJ.
