WATCH: How we fix college basketball's broken regular season
College basketball’s regular season is broken.
When you get a Final Four that consists of a 4-seed, two 5-seeds, and a 9-seed, you’re going to have a really hard time getting me to think that a non-conference game in November/December is a big deal. While March Madness is fun, it has made the regular season of college basketball nearly meaningless. The randomness of the tournament rewards mediocre regular seasons just as much as going undefeated.
This is another reason why we see poor ratings and attendance in November/December for what should be marquee games. How can we make people about these games?
In the latest at KSR’s YouTube Channel, I explain how we can improve the college hoops regular season by borrowing a simple idea from another popular sports league.
