WATCH: K.T. Turner previews Kentucky's SEC opener at Missouri
Conference play is here, with the Kentucky Wildcats traveling to Columbia, MO to take on the Missouri Tigers to open the SEC slate. UK enters the matchup with a 10-2 record vs. Mizzou since the latter joined the SEC, but the Tigers have won two of the last three at home.
This time around, Missouri sits at 11-1 on the year and 8-1 at home, a schedule highlighted by wins over Wichita State, Central Florida and No. 16 Illinois. As a team, the Tigers average an impressive 88.8 points per contest with five different players putting up at least 10 points per contest. They are led by senior standouts D’Moi Hodge and Kobe Brown, with the former averaging 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 steals per contest and the latter averaging 14.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game — both shoot over 52% from the field and 42% from three. Brown in particular is coming off a 31-point, eight-assist, five-rebound, four-steal performance vs. rival Illinois, earning SEC Player of the Week honors along the way.
How are the Wildcats preparing for the high-octane offensive attack on the road, especially after struggling away from home thus far to open the season? Assistant coach K.T. Turner spoke with the media on Tuesday to preview the matchup and discuss what Kentucky must do to pull off the victory at Mizzou Arena.
