WATCH: Kenny Brooks, Georgia Amoore recap season-opener win
Kentucky opened their season by getting a win over USC Upstate in dominant fashion, coming out on top 98-43 Monday night. Following the game, Kenny Brooks and Georgia Amoore talked about the win.
“Really happy to get that one underneath our belt,” Brooks said. “Just so many new adventures today. Like I didn’t know where to go for pregame. I didn’t know where to go, how to get to the locker room for the game situation, just walking out. So, everything was new. With the excitement of all that, the butterflies and everything, and I know they felt the same way, just really wanting to get going, I thought they did handle themselves very well.”
Of course, Kentucky’s performance wasn’t perfect. Still, considering where we are at this point in the year, the Cats came out and looked good.
“We obviously have a lot to work on to get to where we want to be and we want to continue to climb, but I thought they did a really good job of playing hard,” Brooks noted. “We had some moments where we we had some miscommunications and things of that nature, but I don’t think it was for lack of effort. Kudos to Jason [Williams] and his group at USC Upstate. I think they’re going to have a really good year in their conference in the Big South, but it was good for us because they’re a very methodical offense, and they make you work. They want to slow the tempo down, but I thought we were extremely efficient with our offense and got good looks, took advantage of our opportunities, and so, it’s a good start.”

Brooks was especially pleased with Amoore, who can help this team reach its full potential.
I thought she did a really good job of facilitating, getting people to where she they needed to be, taking care of everyone as she steps into her new role. So, I’m excited about where we can go.
