WATCH: Kenny Brooks, Kentucky WBB players speak at SEC Media Days
The college basketball season is right around the corner. This week, the Southeastern Conference held its annual Media Days down in Birmingham, AL to kick off the unofficial start of the 2024-25 campaign. New head coach Kenny Brooks and a couple of Kentucky women’s basketball players took the stage on Wednesday afternoon.
Brooks quickly made headlines when he joked about running John Calipari out of Lexington, but his entire 20-minute interview is well worth the listen. Brooks talks about his coaching philosophy, his swaggy Big Blue Madness entrance, his thoughts on the rising popularity of women’s basketball as a whole, and plenty more.
He didn’t make the trip down south by himself though. He brought a pair of veteran guards with him in Georgia Amoore and Dazia Lawrence. Amoore was an All-American under Brooks last season at Virginia Tech while Lawrence comes to Kentucky from UNC Charlotte where she was named First-Team All-AAC this past season. They provided plenty of insight into Kentucky’s offseason, their expectations for year one of the Brooks era, what fans should expect to see on the floor, and much more.
