WATCH: Kentucky Basketball Highlights from the GLOBL Jam win over Germany
Kentucky‘s three previous foreign trips under John Calipari were against subpar competition in the Bahamas. This year the GLOBL Jam is bringing the Cats bonafide 23U ballers from around the world. Entering the event without a healthy center and a large number of freshmen, the Big Blue Nation was unsure of exactly what to expect. After a somewhat sluggish start, your University of Kentucky Wildcats delivered one highlight after another in an 81-73 victory over Germany.
The latest addition to the roster was en fuego. In his Kentucky debut, West Virginia transfer Tre Mitchell knocked down four three-pointers to score 20 points. He finished with a team-high plus-minus of 15. Arguably his most impressive play wasn’t a bucket, but a backdoor pass for an easy DJ Wagner layup.
Antonio Reeves led the way for the Wildcats with 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. Adou Thiero finished through contact and provided juice on defense, stealing a pair of passes and blocking two shots.
