Sturgill Simpson is a man of his word.

The Grammy Award-winning musician from Jackson, KY contracted coronavirus while on tour this spring. As he recovered, he became more active online. In-between crude jokes he challenged his fans to raise money for charity. He promised to put on a live concert if fans could raise $250,000. It only took seven days to reach that goal.

Friday night Sturgill paid up on his end of the deal, performing some of his best Bluegrass songs in the middle of an empty Ryman Auditorium. More than 150,000 people watched him rock out in a Kentucky sweatshirt.

If you missed the show, no worries. You can find it all online below. He’s still donating proceeds from his apparel at SturgillSimpson.com to The Special Forces Foundation, Music Cares COVID-19 Relief Fund and The Equity Alliance.

The live concert was only one part of the deal he reached with fans. He also promised to create another album. He’s breaking that promise to record TWO albums. For folks that did not like the style of Sound and Fury, this fall’s albums will be all Bluegrass. Don’t Geek.
