Exclusive Peter Burns (Sec Network Host) Interview

In the SEC, it just means more. After fine folks from UK Athletics’ social media department visited Kentucky’s Greek Park, it’s abundantly clear that some students need to learn more about their peers.

A day after Kentucky shared the schedule for Mark Pope’s first season as the Wildcats’ head basketball coach, students were asked to identify Kentucky’s opponents. The “Man on the Street” interviews are not new to the internet streets. The Tennessee Titans debuted a similar schedule release feature from Broadway in 2023 and it was a smash hit.

In the Titans’ case, Broadway has become quite the cosmopolitan area in Nashville. The strip of honkytonks hosts bachelorette parties, cowboys, bachelor parties, country music aficionados, and more bachelorette parties. Plenty of those folks are certainly oblivious as to what’s happening around the National Football League.

One would think that Kentucky students might have a better idea of who Kentucky competes against in the SEC. To be fair, there are two new teams this year, which is probably why one woman said, “I couldn’t tell you that one,” when she was presented with a Texas Longhorns logo.

Now that you’ve watched the entire two-minute clip, the real MVP is the woman who identified the South Carolina logo as the “College of Charleston (maybe) Crow or something.” I know this was for the basketball schedule, but I’ll consider that a well-deserved shot at Shane Beamer.
