WATCH: Kentucky Offense Prepares for Auburn
The Kentucky offense has still not scored more than 21 points against an SEC foe this season. The last SEC home game is Saturday. Not Great Bob!
The Wildcats struggle to convert on third down (39.5%, 12th in the SEC) and in the red zone (55% TD%, 14th in the SEC). That’s a recipe for bad results.
“It’s really frustrating in those situations when the game is on the line, whether its third downs — two turnovers I think we had on third downs — and not converting on those fourth downs. Going on the road, playing a good opponent, that’s what it’s going to come down to,” said offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan.
Those aforementioned offensive stats aren’t funny, but it is kind of funny to see who is right next to Kentucky in those statistical categories. It’s this Saturday’s opponent, Auburn.

“I know they’re sitting at the record they’re sitting at, and maybe we’re in a similar situation as them, but they got players all over the place,” said Hamdan. “This is a team that’s ranked 133rd in turnover margin right now. The reality is, if they weren’t, the talent they have on both sides of the ball and special teams, there’s no reason why they can’t be in the top third of this conference.”
The similarities shouldn’t make preparation too difficult. Before the Cats try to beat Auburn for the first time at Kroger Field, hear everything Hamdan had to say, along with offensive line coach Eric Wolford, quarterback Cutter Boley, wide receiver Dane Key, and offensive tackle Malachi Wood.
