You’ve already heard it by now, but I’ll say it again: Mark Pope couldn’t have done any better with his first press conference as the head coach of Kentucky men’s basketball.

Pope said all the right things on Sunday afternoon in front of a jam-packed Rupp Arena crowd, which was buzzing as early as the morning in anticipation of hearing the new coach speak. In fact, too many fans showed up, to the point where Rupp had to send some away.

The Big Blue Nation was clearly ready for the Pope era and he reciprocated that feeling right back. It was a blast.
