Kentucky walked into Mizzou Arena and left with a big-time eight-point victory to wrap up the regular season — a record-breaking season, might I add. Mark Pope led the Wildcats to an eighth top-15 win, a mark only two teams in the history of college basketball have hit, as the team packs its bags and heads to Nashville to begin the SEC Tournament.

Pope was joined by Andrew Carr and Koby Brea at the podium after the win to talk about that record, along with the rest of the fun the team had in Columbia on Saturday.

“For them, for this group to hold that record is just insane,” Pope said. “In the history of the game of college basketball, for them to be tied? It’s great for these guys, man. It’s a special group.”

Carr talked about his health, returning to full strength for his most well-rounded game as a Wildcat, while Brea discussed the massive 3-pointers he hit when momentum appeared to be slipping early.

Also, is Pope shortening the rotation? Those two played 37 minutes (Brea) and 37 minutes (Carr) each, respectively, while Trent Noah, Brandon Garrison, Travis Perry and Ansley Almonor combined for just 31 minutes — keeping it at a core six with the starters, plus Collin Chandler (16). He explained why he kept things rolling as is en route to the top-15 road win.
