A new era of the Kentucky-Louisville men’s basketball rivalry is almost upon us.

On Saturday evening, the No. 5 Wildcats (9-1) will host the Cardinals (6-4) inside Rupp Arena with two new head coaches roaming the sidelines. Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey will soon go head-to-head for the first time. To preview what’s in store for this year’s Battle of the Bluegrass, Pope spoke with reporters on Friday afternoon to provide his thoughts on the showdown.

Among the topics of conversation included Lamont Butler‘s injury status, his thoughts on expanding the regular season to as many as 40 games, what Louisville guard Chucky Hepburn brings to the floor, and much more. Listen to everything Pope had to say below. Tipoff on Saturday is set for 5:15 p.m. EST on ESPN.
