WATCH: Mark Stoops talks one final time before Game 1

Talking season is over. The 2023 college football season is officially off and running. On Saturday, Kentucky will host Ball State to begin the highly anticipated season. Head coach Mark Stoops is chomping at the bit to get his 11th campaign in Lexington started.
Stoops fielded questions from media members on Thursday evening at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility practice fields for just over four minutes. Everyone is ready for the season to start.
“I don’t have much to say. You guys have listened to me quite a bit here through summer camp. Not much has changed,” Mark Stoops told reporters on Thursday. “I think you all know that myself, our staff, and our team is ready to go play a game.”

Mark Stoops also addressed the unknowns a first game can bring, how the transfer portal has made offseason scouting difficult, and the Wildcats are confident in a new-look secondary. Now it’s time to play some football.
The next time we will hear from the Kentucky head coach is on Saturday afternoon when the game with a MAC opponent that is built very similarly to the Wildcats ends. We will know a lot more about this Kentucky team then. For now, we’ll play the waiting game just a little bit longer.
