WATCH: Mark Stoops Monday Press Conference ahead of Mississippi State

Less than 48 hours after Tennessee beat Kentucky for the third straight season, Mark Stoops went to the podium at Kroger Field to discuss the defeat and look ahead to the Mississippi State road trip.

“Traditionally we’ve had a tough time down there, so we have to get that fixed.”

That’s an understatement from the Kentucky head coach. The Wildcats have not won a game at Davis Wade Stadium since 2008, the same year I got my driver’s license, half a lifetime ago. Mark Stoops did not beat one SEC West team on the road during his first decade in Lexington, a trend that needs to change to snap the Wildcats’ three-game losing streak.

“We had our opportunities (against Tennessee),” said Stoops.

“(I’m) very proud of the way our team prepared, the way we competed, the way they fought. Did some really good things in that game and improved in some areas that we needed to improve in. We have to build on that now. There are always a few plays, a couple series, some things that determine close ballgames. We got to find the recipe to make those plays and put them in the right position to win those type of games.”
