WATCH: Rapid Reacting to Kentucky baseball's win over Ball State
Kentucky baseball picked up its first NCAA Tournament win since 2017 on Friday night. So of course, KSR was in attendance at Kentucky Proud Park to soak in the sweat from the 90-degree heat good vibes from a packed crowd of nearly 5,000 Big Blue Nation faithful.
The Bat ‘Cats (37-18) took care of Ball State 4-0 in the opening game of the 2023 NCAA Tournament’s Lexington Regional. UK pitchers Travis Smith and Mason Moore combined for the shutout victory, just the third in program history during a postseason game and the first since 1949. Kentucky held a small 1-0 lead for most of the afternoon before a three-run eighth inning blew the game wide open. Despite an excellent outing on the mound for Ball State ace Trennor O’Donnell, the Cardinals’ offense couldn’t do enough to stay alive.
Kentucky will take the diamond again on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. EST against the winner of Friday night’s game between Indiana and West Virginia. While we wait, check out KSR’s Rapid Reaction from the win as Drew Franklin and Steven Peake break it all down.
