It’s been a little over a week now since Rhyne Howard made even more history for Kentucky Women’s Basketball.

The 6-foot-2 former Wildcat was selected No. 1 overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream last Monday. Howard made the trip to New York City for the event, where she was joined by several other eventual draft picks. UK Athletics made sure to document her journey to the Big Apple for our viewing pleasure.

Check it out.

Howard hasn’t slowed down since her name was called first by WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. She’s been doing rounds of interviews and loading up on endorsements. Howard even has her own billboard (courtesy of UK) overlooking downtown Atlanta.

The Dream began training camp on Monday, doing so under a new head coach with several new faces on the roster. That was Howard’s first of many WNBA practices.

“I am glad the first practice is finally over honestly, but it was good, it’s great to be here and I love the energy of everybody,” Howard said, according to WKYT. “You can tell everyone is super excited and ready to get to work and I felt that. Everyone is like you got it, we’re all new here we’re all learning something. It was great to get that first practice in and see how the pace is going to be.”

The Dream will begin its regular season on Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. EST against the Dallas Wings. It will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network.
