The addition of Texas to the SEC is drastically changing the sports world. Any fan watching from afar can see the Longhorns are not the most well-liked program in college athletics, but what exactly makes folks throw Horns Down so ferociously?

A day after receiving insight from a Texas Insider, today Kentucky Sports Radio is receiving some help from the Longhorns’ rivals to try to better understand exactly why Texas is the worst. One word immediately comes to mind, “arrogance.”

“It’s the level of arrogance, just this entitlement,” Billy Liucci told KSR at SEC Media Days.

The founder of TexAgs.com, which became the nation’s top independent sports site following KSR’s merger with On3, was college roommates with Lions’ coach Dan Campbell. He was not on the field, but he was very close with the Aggie football team when things got nasty between the instate rival back in the 90s.

“I remember guys knocking over members of the Longhorn band when they were getting in their way on the way to the locker room. I remember an A&M player punching a Longhorn fan that ran onto the field. That was on the front page of the Houston Chronicle sports section, back when a player could punch a fan on the field, it be in the paper and there were no repercussions,” he said.

This year on Thanksgiving Saturday, the two teams will share the same playing field for the first time since 2011. Prepare for fireworks.

Texas’ Red River rival has a slightly different relationship with the Longhorns. Oklahoma fans can spot the Texas arrogance from a mile away, but there’s more mutual respect between the programs that are joining the SEC at the same time. Sooner Scoop‘s Eddie Radosevich shared what it’s like to be at the Cotton Bowl for a rivalry game that is like no other.

“A lot of people show up to the Cotton Bowl a little bit hungover from Friday night in Dallas for OU-Texas, so you go wax-cup beer because that’s all they serve is wax cups at the State Fair of Texas. Get a beer, get a corndog, obviously. That’s the thing, Fletcher’s corndogs are a very famous corndog,” Eddie advised.

“It’s one of the best experiences, truly. If Kentucky has an open week, you guys need to come down because OU-Texas is a one-of-a-kind, first-class experience.”

Texas is bringing a lot of arrogance to the SEC. They’ll fit right in just fine.
