Kentucky’s roster will look a little bit different when the Wildcats take on Tennessee for the second time this season.
Most importantly, starting point guard Lamont Butler is back in the lineup after missing three games due to a shoulder injury. Kentucky still managed to take down the Volunteers on Jan. 28 in Knoxville without Butler (along with an extremely limited Andrew Carr), but his absence on both ends of the floor was devastating to the team’s overall success. He finished with nine points, three rebounds, and two assists in 23 minutes in a win against South Carolina over the weekend.
Kentucky will need Butler ready to play 30-plus minutes when No. 5 Tennessee comes to Rupp Arena on Tuesday night. Ahead of the SEC rematch, the veteran floor general spoke with reporters Monday about his injury, his recovery process, what to expect out of the Volunteers, and much more. He was joined by teammate Trent Noah as the two Wildcats talked about their expectations for Tuesday.
