WATCH: UK Diver's inspirational story
The excellent UK Athletics video team put together an inspirational feature on senior UK diver Chase Lane, the former 2018 SEC Freshman of the Year who overcame battles with mental health on his way to qualifying for the 2021 US Olympic trials.
Through mentorships with UK Swim and Dive coach Ted Hautau, Associate AD of Swimming and Diving Nathan Schwake, and UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart, Lane found fortitude and developed strategies to better maintain his mental health.

The Florida native has even gone on to serve the UK Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the chair of the mental health subcommittee.
“I’m determined to let people know that it’s okay. I’ve had a story, you have a story. I want you to share that story to the world,” said Lane. “Let them know that it’s okay to be vulnerable. Let them know that their weakness is made strong. Let them know that their story is going to impact somebody else.”
Watch the rest of Lane’s story below.
Lane is one of several Wildcat divers that are set to compete in the Zone C Diving Championships, which began earlier on Sunday and run through Tuesday. UK is hosting the event, which is the lone chance divers have to qualify for NCAA Championships. The Lancaster Aquatic Center should be buzzing with energy the next few days, and if you want in on the action, you can watch the men compete here and the women compete here.
