WBCA recognizes Rhyne Howard with 4th All-American honor of year
Rhyne Howard just keeps stacking up the postseason awards.
On Thursday, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced its annual WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ First-Team All-American team for the 2021-22 season, where Howard was named to the roster for the second consecutive year. This is now the fourth All-American recognition that the Kentucky WBB senior guard has earned this year, joining honors from The Associated Press, the United States Basketball Writers Association, and the John R. Wooden Award, the last of which she received on Wednesday.
Howard has earned First-team All-American honors across three straight seasons from the AP and USBWA.
South Carolina junior center Aliyah Boston took home the Wade Trophy, which headlines the WBCA All-American team as the National Player of the Year.
Earlier this month, Howard was named to her third consecutive All-SEC First-Team before taking home SEC Tournament MVP honors in what was Kentucky’s first conference tournament title since 1982. She currently ranks second in school history in regards to total points — both men’s and women’s — with 2,290 career points, trailing only Valerie Still in that category.
