Don’t look now, but we have a Cason Wallace sighting in Nashville at the SEC Tournament.
The Kentucky basketball social media team has done its best to hide the standout freshman from published content — no unnecessary reveals on injured players is a John Calipari staple — but Wallace found his way into the camera frame on Thursday.
With players receiving their postseason gifts from the conference, Wallace was sporting his practice jersey, an indication he participated in team shootaround early Thursday morning.
Wallace last played in Kentucky’s home loss to Vanderbilt on Senior Night, going down with a turned ankle early in the second half. He was forced to miss the Wildcats’ regular-season finale at Arkansas, an unexpected 88-79 victory.
Averaging 11.7 points (44.6% FG, 35.6% 3PT, 76.2% FT), 4.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per contest, the 6-foot-4 guard has emerged as the team’s primary ball-handling option to close out the SEC schedule. He started at point guard in his final 13 games of the regular season.

As for his postseason, Wallace is expected to return to game action this weekend in Nashville as the Wildcats look to earn an SEC title and continue building momentum for the NCAA Tournament, sources tell KSR. He’s planning to give it a go, as is senior guard CJ Fredrick, who is battling a cracked rib.
Barring any new setbacks, two key rotation pieces in the backcourt planning to take the floor inside Bridgestone Arena, both practicing Thursday morning.
As for the rest of the team? Doing just fine.
It’ll be Vanderbilt or LSU on Friday evening for Kentucky — a close-to-full-strength version of the Wildcats.
