We now interrupt this celebration to celebrate

[Ed. Note: To coincide with the UK Sports Network’s replay of the 2011 Kentucky-Ohio State Sweet 16 game, KSR is sharing posts from that night, including the original comments. Enjoy.]  With their conference overlooked for much of the year, there can now be at least a few minutes of chest pounding in the southern states on this glorious Saturday, as the one and only conference with two teams left in the Elite Eight is our very own SEC. That's right. Not the Big 10, or Big 12, or even the mighty Big East. It's just the piddling old SEC, not worth anyone's time for most of the season but apparently good enough to make up 1/4 of the national quarterfinals, Florida's easy region and overseeding notwithstanding. I'm not necessarily a guy that roots for SEC teams, especially ones I hate, in the tournament. However, after listening to people drool over the Big East all season it certainly does taste like sweet vindication to have more teams from the SEC standing now than any other league. And while we're on the subject of rating conferences, let's take a minute to throw some big ups the way of Sir Charles Barkley. Not only has he spent the tournament rightfully torching the Big East, but he also gave the world Florida State over Notre Dame and Arizona over Duke, in addition to picking the Cats to pull the upset last night (even if the reason he thought we'd win was our nonexistent depth). Barkley has been the star of the TV personalities so far, despite not looking interested or even awake for much of his time on camera. I can only hope he comes back to the tournament next season to drive Rick Pitino insane some more and nail his predictions after seemingly not watching a college game all year. Sir Charles and the SEC: The two biggest winners of the tournament so far. Use the comments section to talk about Florida's game with Butler for the first ticket to the Final Four, to continue to bask in the glow of spectacular victory, or to laugh at the Big East all together one more time. Play nice.
