Kroger KSR Game of the Week, Thursday Edition: Webster County at McLean County
For the first time ever, the KSR crew will be heading to McLean County for the Kroger KSR Game of the Week featuring Webster County traveling to McLean County to take on the Cougars. The Cougar Nation has been consistently asking for the game of the week, so here we come. It’s exciting to travel to new parts of the Commonwealth, especially for a Thursday night game with home-field ramifications in the playoffs.
McLean County
The Cougars are 5-2 on the season. Coach Zach O. Wagner’s team is coming off a 28-27 win over Hopkins County Central. The offense is averaging 32.3 points per outing. Quarterback Brodie Cline leads the offense with 435 passing and 437 rushing yards on the season. Aden Bolden’s five touchdowns and 478 ground yards are tops on the team. Bolden is also the Cougars’ leader in receptions with 9 for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns. McLean County is running for 252 yards per contest.
The defense is giving up 22 points per game and is paced by Elijah Baldwin. He has recorded 77 tackles including 5 for loss and 2 QB sacks. Baldwin is 3A’s fifth-leading tackler. Hunter Stratton has contributed 56 stops, 5.5 TFLs, and 1.5 QB sacks. Coby Dant’s 8.5 tackles for loss leads McLean County in the havoc department. Three Cougars have intercepted a pass in 2023: Brodie Cline, Elijah Baldwin, and Kamden Walters.
Webster County
Webster County also enters Thursday’s matchup with a 5-2 record. The Trojans are coached by Edward Milum and are coming off a heartbreaking 40-39 loss to Hancock County.

The Trojans are averaging 41.3 points per contest. Quarterback Blake Hanor has completed 16 of 36 passing attempts for 304 yards and 6 touchdowns. Jackson Edens is the team’s top pass catcher with 9 receptions for 178 yards and 1 touchdown. The Trojans lean on the run game and are averaging 278 rushing yards per game. It’s led by Jackson Eden’s 765 yards and 8 scores. He rushes for an average of 127.5 yards per contest and is currently ranked 10th in 3A in that category. Jarvis Starks Scott has gained 565 yards and also scored 8 TDs. Kyler Kautzman’s 354 yards and 3 touchdowns round out the Trojan’s main ball carriers.
The defense is allowing 28 points per game. Kautzman also serves as the Trojan’s top tackler with 57 stops including 2 for loss. Josiah Mills and Ayden Preston have 49 and 46 tackles respectively. Braxton Alexander is one of the team’s top havoc producers with 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 QB sacks. Josiah Mills’ 7.5 QB sacks ranks third in 3A. Jarvis Starks Scott’s 4 INTs rank 4th in 3A.
