What the world looked like the last time Kentucky beat Florida in the Swamp

by:Ally Tucker09/09/14
Just kidding... but it's been a long time. A looooong time. Kentucky hasn't had a successful trip to Gainesville since 1979. The world has changed quite a bit since that 31-3 obliteration by the Cats. Who am I kidding? I don't remember. I was not even born yet. My parents weren't even wooing each other via invitations to go on "Disco Dancing" dates. Here's a snapshot of the world we lived in the last time Kentucky beat the Gators in the Swamp...   1979...   United States President: Jimmy Carter   Cost of a First Class Stamp: 15 cents   Kentucky Derby Winner: Spectacular Bid   Super Bowl Champions: Pittsburgh Steelers   Rap Game: The rap game was relatively young, with "Rapper's Delight" just hitting the streets   Hit Movie: Kramer vs. Kramer   Record of the Year: Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are"   Median Household Income:  $16,461   Ryan Lemond's Speeding Ticket Count: 3   NBA Championship: Seattle beat the Washington Bullets.   NBA teams that existed: Washington Bullets and Seattle SuperSonics   Linda Ellerbee Watch: Nickelodeon was launched. Years later, Linda and her orange chucks would bring you the news.   Kentucky Basketball Coach:  Joe B. Hall   A few notable team members: Kyle Macy, Dwane Casey, Dwight Anderson   Tim Tebow's Birthday watch: ESPN began showing sports 24/7. Too bad that wouldn't last...   TLC is not impressed and neither are the Duggars A TV show called "Eight is Enough" debuts.   Steve Jobs' business card...   The foundation was laid for classics such as "Sharknado 2: The Second One" Jaws was broadcast on television for the first time on ABC   Jennifer Love-Hewitt: Born   Claire Danes: Born. Season 2 of Homeland will suck someday.     Let's go out and end this streak, eh?
