What to cheer for without the Kentucky Wildcats in March Madness

Kentucky did not survive one day into the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Most folks around the BBN will simply turn off the television, but this is March Madness. Seemingly unending hours of basketball is unavoidable, even when your team is no longer in contention. Besides, Kentucky fans still have plenty to cheer for in this NCAA Tournament.
1. Lose, Coach K
The only thing that could make Kentucky’s loss any worse is watching Coach K’s retirement tour end with him cutting down the nets in New Orleans. This old narcissist cannot get the attention he so desperately seeks. Coach K’s reign of terror must end in a loss. It doesn’t matter if it happens today against Cal State Fullerton or in the Elite Eight against Gonzaga, we cannot let his career end with another banner in that Cracker Jack box they call Cameron Indoor.
2. No Title for Gonzaga
With Coach K saying sayonara to college basketball, the mantle will soon be passed to Gonzaga as the most hated program in the country. The key is keeping them from reaching the pinnacle of success. Even though the Zags reached two Final Fours in four years, they’re still harmless because Mark Few can’t win the big one. “Choking in the Championship Game” is a narrative we must keep alive for Gonzaga.

3. Go Racers!
Kentucky really went out of its way to avoid playing Murray State, amirite? Punchlines aside, the Racers are a good basketball team and the Commonwealth’s final NCAA Tournament representative. After winning a thriller in overtime over San Francisco, Murray State is a win away from the school’s first ever Sweet 16 appearance. The Racers can make history by exacting some in-state revenge on Saint Peter’s for the Wildcats.
4. Chaos
It’s difficult to enjoy the Madness when your team’s heartbreak lies at the epicenter. Creighton created chaos Thursday night, but no one could enjoy it in Kentucky with the Wildcats wilting away. If the Cats can’t win, none of the Blue Bloods should. Cinderellas, inject some chaos into this tournament. Misery needs company.
