[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="960"] Graphic via the Herald-Leader[/caption] According to a study in 2011, the average life expectancy in the United States is 78.7 years. But what about Kentucky? The Herald-Leader shared a study this morning that shows a county-by-county breakdown of life expectancies in the Commonwealth. The researchers based their results on education levels, poverty level, opportunities to be physically active and access to health care. Not surprisingly, life expectancy was longer in more affluent areas and shorter in the poorer areas of the state, such as Eastern Kentucky. The county with the longest life expectancy? Oldham County, one of the state's wealthiest counties, at 79 years. The shortest? Perry, Breathitt, and Wolfe Counties, at 70 years, followed by Floyd, Harlan, and Owsley Counties at 71 years. Check out more details from the study at the Herald-Leader. [Where you live in Kentucky might cut eight years off your life]
